Foreign capital inflows into Indonesia continue to increase despite current external pressures, according to the latest records from Bank Indonesia (BI). Acting Governor of Bank Indonesia, Destry Dam Damayanti, stated that following the decision to hold the BI Rate at 5.75% in July 2026, foreign capital inflows have reached Rp195 trillion, equivalent to US$10 billion.

“At the beginning of this week, we observed inflows into SBN and SRBI amounting to Rp195 trillion, a value exceeding US$10 billion, which is relatively large,” Destry remarked during an online media briefing on Friday (31/07/2026).

Destry explained that the policy to maintain the benchmark interest rate was specifically aimed at attracting foreign capital into the country, primarily to boost the domestic supply of foreign exchange. An increased supply of foreign exchange, particularly in US Dollars, serves as a key driver in maintaining the stability of the Rupiah exchange rate.

“Alhamdulillah, following our 100 bps or 1% increase in the BI Rate since the May and June RDG (Board of Governors Meeting), there has been a repricing or adjustment in the price of our domestic assets, such as SBN or SRBI,” she explained.

“This is very important for us as it strengthens our foreign exchange reserves and increases market liquidity, allowing us to manage the economy and the Rupiah with greater stability,” Destry emphasised.

It is noted that the recent inflow of up to US$10 billion represents an increase compared to the quarterly report for Q2-2026, which recorded inflows of US$8.5 billion.
