Despite Three Cases, AGO Confirms Febrie Adriansyah Is a Suspect in Only One
Jakarta, VIVA – The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has finally clarified the legal status of former Special Crimes Deputy Attorney General (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah following the official transfer of his cases from the National Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortastipidkor) to the Attorney General’s Office.
Although the Attorney General’s Office is now handling three cases related to Febrie, investigators confirmed that the former Jampidsus has only been named a suspect in one case, namely the alleged corruption and money laundering (TPPU) involving PT Asabri.
Head of the Legal Information Centre (Kapuspenkum) at the Attorney General’s Office, Anang Supriatna, said Febrie’s suspect status derives from the investigation warrant (Sprindik) previously issued by the National Police’s Kortastipidkor.
“Based on the National Police’s Sprindik, Febrie Adriansyah is a suspect in one case, namely relating to the TPPU from Asabri,” Anang said at a press conference on Friday, 17 July 2026.
Along with the transfer of the case, Attorney General’s Office investigators have begun questioning Febrie in his capacity as a suspect.
“Attorney General’s Office investigators have summoned Mr FA to be questioned as a suspect,” he said.
Meanwhile, the two other cases also transferred to the Attorney General’s Office — alleged corruption at PT Krakatau Steel and alleged corruption in coal supplies for steam power plants (PLTU) — remain at the general investigation stage.
Anang stressed that no one has yet been named a suspect in those two cases. Both while the cases were still handled by the National Police and after the process was taken over by the Attorney General’s Office, investigators are still identifying who should be held criminally responsible.
According to Anang, investigations into the two cases had indeed proceeded under general investigation warrants, meaning investigators had only found indications of criminal offences, while naming suspects would require further development.
“For both cases, it is still a general investigation by National Police investigators. Clearly, after the evidence and suspects are received, the next step will be to prepare the legal actions required for the investigation,” Anang said.
Separately, the National Police also explained why Febrie Adriansyah was named a suspect despite never having been summoned or questioned as a witness.
Head of Public Affairs at Metro Jaya Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, said the suspect designation was made after investigators secured at least two sufficient pieces of evidence. In addition, investigators had also examined 15 witnesses, carried out searches, and held a case review before elevating Febrie’s legal status.
