Despite Three Cases, AGO Confirms Febrie Adriansyah Is a Suspect in Only One

The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has finally provided an explanation regarding the legal status of former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah, following the transfer of cases previously investigated by the National Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortastipidkor) to the AGO. Although the AGO is now handling three cases related to Febrie, investigators have confirmed that the former Jampidsus has only been named a suspect in one case, namely the alleged corruption and money laundering (TPPU) at PT Asabri. Head of the AGO’s Legal Information Centre (Kapuspenkum) Anang Supriatna stated that Febrie’s suspect status stems from an Investigation Order (Sprindik) previously issued by the police’s Kortastipidkor. “Based on the Police Kortas Sprindik, (Febrie Adriansyah is a suspect) for one case, which is related to the money laundering aspect of Asabri,” Anang said during a press conference on Friday, 17 July 2026. Following the transfer of the case, AGO investigators have begun examining Febrie in his capacity as a suspect. “AGO investigators have summoned Mr FA to be examined as a suspect,” he said. Meanwhile, the two other cases that have also been transferred to the AGO, namely alleged corruption at PT Krakatau Steel and alleged corruption in the coal supply for a steam power plant (PLTU), are still at the general investigation stage. Anang stressed that to date, no party has been named a suspect in these two cases. Both while the cases were handled by the police and after the process was taken over by the AGO, investigators are still probing who should be held criminally responsible. According to Anang, the investigation into the two cases previously proceeded based on a general investigation warrant. This means that investigators have only found an alleged criminal act, while naming a suspect still requires further development. “For the two cases, they are still under general investigation by the police investigators. Once evidence and suspects are received, the necessary legal actions for the investigation will be arranged,” Anang stated. Separately, the police explained the reason Febrie Adriansyah was named a suspect despite never having been summoned or examined as a witness. Head of Public Relations for the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, said the suspect designation was made after investigators obtained at least two pieces of sufficient evidence. In addition, investigators had examined 15 witnesses, conducted searches, and held a case conference before elevating Febrie’s legal status.
