Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono revealed that trucks and pickups already imported from India will still be distributed for the operations of Red and White Cooperatives (KMP). Those receiving the vehicles are KMPs that are ready to operate.

“Yesterday, because they were already imported, the number is still in the thousands, we will fulfil them for operations in village cooperatives that have completed their physical buildings, warehouses, outlets, and equipment,” said Ferry after the halal bihalal of the West Java Branch of Syarikat Islam, at Masjid Al Jabbar, Bandung City, West Java, on Sunday (29/3/2026).

Ferry explained that each cooperative will later receive one unit of truck and one pickup, as well as a motorcycle. This is to facilitate and smooth the flow of goods mobility from villages to outside and from outside to villages. “Now thousands of trucks and pick-ups have been distributed to Red and White Village and Sub-district Cooperatives (around 2,400 cooperatives),” he said.

Even though distributing imported operational vehicles, Ferry admitted that the government should still prioritise the domestic automotive industry or those that have invested in Indonesia. “But if it’s insufficient, we are certainly allowed to take from any country,” said the deputy general chairman of the Gerindra Party DPP.

Nevertheless, according to Ferry, there have been discussions between him and Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita and the Indonesian Automotive Vehicle Industry Association (Gaikindo), to fulfil the remaining needs of KMP. In total, there are around 80,000 KMP in Indonesia.

“To fulfil the remaining needs of Red and White Cooperatives, we have discussed this with the Minister of Industry, with Gaikindo, and we will prioritise our domestic automotive industry that has been established,” he said.

The government provides initial capital access for KMP with a ceiling of up to Rp 3 billion per unit from the State-Owned Banks Association (Himbara), with an interest rate of around 6 percent per year. The tenor is set at 6-10 years and a grace period of 6-8 months.
