Despite Eviction Execution, Hotel Sultan Still Lists Rooms on Online Travel Agents at Exorbitant Prices
The Sultan Hotel, one of Jakarta’s iconic hotels, was finally subject to an eviction execution after a protracted ownership dispute between the government and PT Indobuildco. The Central Jakarta District Court, supported by joint TNI-Polri personnel, carried out the eviction of The Sultan Hotel & Residence Jakarta located in the Gelora area, Central Jakarta. Chandra Hamzah, legal counsel for the Gelora Bung Karno Complex Management Centre (PPKGBK), stated that after a 20-year dispute, the execution phase to secure this state-owned asset could finally proceed. “So, based on the Central Jakarta District Court ruling and the execution order from the Central Jakarta District Court, the eviction is being carried out today, 18 June 2026,” Chandra told reporters. Even as the execution process was underway, Hotel Sultan was still offering rooms on several Online Travel Agents (OTAs) at exorbitant prices. On the Agoda app, Hotel Sultan listed a Deluxe room facing the garden with a breakfast package for two at Rp1,039,298 per night. Meanwhile, a Grand Deluxe room with a king bed and city view was priced at Rp1,197,602 per night. On Booking.com, The Sultan Hotel & Residence offered a Deluxe Double or Twin room with a garden view and breakfast for two at Rp1,322,386 per night. A Grand Deluxe Double or Twin room was priced at Rp1,661,028, excluding breakfast. An Executive Double or Twin room could be booked starting from Rp2,589,249 with garden and pool views, also excluding breakfast. Guests wishing to have breakfast at the hotel would be charged an additional Rp350,000 for two persons. Other platforms such as Skyscanner and Bluepillow.id also still showed availability for visitors wanting to stay at the iconic Jakarta hotel. Even the official website of The Sultan Hotel & Residence Jakarta still listed rooms at Rp1,996,500. However, some apps like Traveloka and Tiket.com had already been deactivated, displaying a message stating “all rooms are full”.
