Despite Alleged Abuse by Police Officer, Victim Admits Regret Towards Herself — Why?

A case of violence suffered by a woman with the initials M (30) has drawn public attention. The perpetrator in this case is alleged to be an active police officer in Central Java. The victim endured repeated abuse during an unregistered marriage with the reported individual that lasted approximately 2.5 years. Accompanied by the Hotman 911 Team, M reported the incident to the Criminal Investigation Agency of the National Police on Thursday. As a result of the violence and abuse, the victim suffered burns covering 47 percent of her body, predominantly on her left side. Despite this, M still feels regret towards herself. In a YouTube broadcast, M admitted that she regretted not being honest with her family. She chose to keep her problems to herself and hide them from her relatives. “I regret not being honest with my family. Why did I keep it all to myself,” M stated. She was very afraid to open up to her family. However, after this incident, she finally dared to be honest because she had been afraid of her husband. “I was scared, especially of not being honest and open with my family. I only became honest after this incident, because it had been going on for so long,” she said. “I was more afraid of him, so I obeyed him. I was once threatened with an electric shock baton,” she continued. M also revealed that her husband had various sexual fantasies, including handcuffing her. If she refused to comply with his wishes, she would often experience physical violence such as slaps and punches. “Basically, if I didn’t obey, he would slap me, hit me,” M said. Meanwhile, Tegal City Police Chief AKBP Heru Antariksa Cahya stated that the Central Java Regional Police’s Internal Affairs Division had moved quickly to secure the suspected officer. The individual is currently undergoing examination and has been detained.
