Despite Alleged Abuse by Police Officer, Victim Admits Regret Towards Herself — Why?
A case of violence experienced by a woman, identified by the initials M (30), has captured public attention. The perpetrator in this case is allegedly an active police officer in Central Java.
The victim has endured repeated physical abuse during her unofficial marriage (nikah siri) with the reported individual for approximately 2.5 years. Accompanied by the Hotman 911 legal team, M reported the incident to the Indonesian National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) on Thursday (2/7/2026).
As a result of the violence and physical abuse, the victim suffered burns covering up to 47 per cent of her body, primarily on her left side. Despite the trauma, M expressed feelings of self-regret.
Appearing on the YouTube programme ‘CURHAT BANG Denny Sumargo’, M admitted she regretted not being honest with her family. She chose to suppress her problems and keep them a secret from her relatives.
“I regret not being honest with my family. Why did I have to keep it to myself?” M stated during the broadcast. She explained that she was very afraid to be open with her family, but following this incident, she finally found the courage to be truthful. This secrecy was driven by her fear of her husband.
“I was afraid, especially regarding not being open with my family. It was only after this incident that I became honest, because this has been going on for a long time,” she said. She added, “I was more afraid of him, so I obeyed him. I was once threatened with a stun baton.”
Furthermore, M revealed that her husband had various sexual fantasies, including handcuffing her. If she failed to comply with his demands, she frequently suffered physical violence in the form of slaps and punches.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Tegal Kota Police, AKBP Heru Antariksa Cahya, revealed that the Internal Affairs Division (Bidpropam) of the Central Java Regional Police has secured the alleged perpetrator. The authorities are currently conducting an investigation and have placed the suspect in detention.
“The Bidpropam of the Central Java Regional Police acted swiftly to follow up on the member of the Tegal Kota Police, identified by the initials N. He has been secured, interrogated, and is now in detention,” explained AKBP Heru Antariksa Cahya.
