Despicable! Quran Teacher in Buton Sexually Abuses 9 Students

Police have arrested a Quran teacher identified as FS (32) in Buton Regency, Southeast Sulawesi. FS was detained for allegedly sexually abusing nine of his students.

Buton Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Sunarton stated that the perpetrator carried out the sexual violence in Lasalimu Selatan District, Buton Regency. Police only received an official report of the alleged abuse on Wednesday (19/8/2026).

“The alleged abuse occurred between February 2025 and May 2025,” said AKP Sunarton in his statement on Thursday (20/8).

Based on initial investigation results, there were nine victims, all of whom were still in primary school or junior secondary school. The victims were students who regularly attended Quran lessons with the perpetrator.

AKP Sunarton explained that the perpetrator allegedly committed the abuse during Quran lessons at a prayer room. The perpetrator also acted while giving victims rides on his motorcycle.

“The perpetrator committed the abuse against the victims during Quran lessons at the prayer room and on the motorcycle when he was giving the victims rides,” said Sunarton.
