Designated as Suspect Since 2025, Perpetrator of Sexual Violence Not Yet Detained, Victim Questions Justice
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – A perpetrator of sexual violence with the initials FA has not been detained after being designated as a suspect in July 2025. Despite this, FA was previously listed as a wanted person (DPO) for twice failing to appear for examination summons. The victim, named Rully, has questioned the legal steps taken by the police. Rully admitted that it took her years to report the incident she experienced to the authorities. As a result of the event, Rully has had to take medication to calm her mind and address the trauma. She also experienced a demotion and salary reduction at her workplace. “I just want justice. I want the perpetrator to be held accountable for his actions. And I want my life to return to how it was before,” said Rully. According to her, in addition to the victim’s rights, the suspect’s rights must also be considered. “The individual has been designated as a suspect, but detention is not mandatory. It can be carried out or not,” explained Budi when met at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters on Wednesday. Furthermore, Budi stated that investigators have summoned FA again for examination today. This will serve as material for consideration in the further handling of the case. “Well, this might provide input for the investigators to see whether this suspect is cooperative or not in fulfilling the investigator’s summons,” said Budi. The case resurfaced after the victim shared her experience through a video uploaded on the Instagram account @tangsel.life. In the video, the victim stated that she became a victim of sexual violence by a businessman with the initials FA.
