JAKARTA (JP): The Indotex Foundation of the Indonesian Textile Association signed yesterday a memorandum of understanding with LaSalle College Group of Canada on the establishment of a garment fashion design college here.

"The garment fashion design college, set up with an investment of US$750,000, is expected to start operation in July," Hariyadi B. Sukamdani, chairman of the Jakarta branch of the association, told reporters after signing the agreement.

He said the college, called Indotex LaSalle International College, is equally owned by Indotex and LaSalle.

LaSalle's president, Jacques A. Lefebvre, said the college offers a two-year program of education, including fashion design, marketing, merchandising and production.

LaSalle currently operates similar colleges in Singapore, Malaysia, China and Turkey. (04)
