Dozens of tourism villages in Klaten Regency showcased their various leading potentials during Desamorfosis 2026, also known as the Tourism Village Festival. The event, which took place over two days on 25-26 September 2026, was held at Barepan Field, Cawas.

The Regent of Klaten, Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo, personally opened the event on Friday (25/9). He stated that Desamorfosis 2026 was organised in Cawas as an effort to introduce Klaten’s diverse tourism potential to the public, including residents from neighbouring areas such as Sukoharjo and Gunungkidul Regency.

“Therefore, it is only right that we join hands to develop tourism in Klaten Regency. Today and tomorrow, dozens of tourism village booths from across Klaten are present,” said Hamenang.

He added that the hope is for visitors from Cawas, Sukoharjo, and Gunungkidul who gather here to realise the variety of tourism villages available in Klaten.

According to Hamenang, tourism villages in Klaten offer various attractions, ranging from water and mountain tourism to puppet arts (wayang) and historical tourism.

“Today and in the future, when discussing tourism, we do not necessarily have to leave Klaten Regency; there are plenty of things to experience right here in Klaten,” he remarked.

“You get the holiday, the educational value, and the souvenirs; it is all complete. Therefore, the hope is that through this tourism, the economy in Klaten Regency can be revitalised,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Klaten Culture, Tourism, Youth, and Sports Office, Titin Windiyarsih, stated that Desamorfosis 2026 was held to commemorate World Tourism Day and to introduce the potential of existing tourism villages in Klaten.

“The goal is to introduce the potential products of villages that have received official decrees as tourism villages, to encourage villages to become high-quality tourism destinations, and to revitalise tourism events,” explained Titamin.

Titin noted that this year’s Tourism Village Festival carried the theme “Klaten Desa Morfosis”. The theme describes the process of transformation from a pilot village into an advanced tourism village.

In its implementation, Desamorfosis 2026 featured 40 booths consisting of 31 tourism villages and nine MSMEs. In addition to the exhibition, the festival also included several supporting activities.

“First, the exhibition features 40 booths consisting of 31 tourism villages and 9 MSMEs. Actually, there are 40 tourism villages, but these 9 could not participate due to certain reasons,” she said.

The Desamorfosis 2026 series was further enlivened by various competitions and art performances from 13 tourism villages. The event also included a group healthy gymnastics session and a performance of Saleho art from Boyolali.

The presence of Saleho art is part of a cross-regency collaboration to strengthen networks and support the development of tourism villages in the surrounding areas.
