Desalination Plant Attacked; Iran Retaliates Against US Military Base in Bahrain

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that U.S. forces were attacking a desalination plant on Qeshm Island that converts seawater into potable water. According to Al Jazeera on Saturday 7 March 2026, Araghchi described the action as ‘a blatant and desperate crime.’ He said the attack disrupted water supplies to Iran’s villages, with water provision to 30 villages affected. ‘Attacking Iran’s infrastructure is a dangerous move with serious consequences. The United States is setting this precedent, not Iran,’ he added. In response, Tehran said it had targeted the U.S. military base in Bahrain. Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior reported that air-raid sirens sounded, and urged residents to remain calm and seek shelter. ‘The U.S. military base in Juffair, Bahrain, with solid- and liquid-fuel missiles,’ the IRGC stated.
