Derby race at Pulo Mas track

JAKARTA (JP): Sixty-eight horses from nine provinces will
compete for total cash prizes of Rp 24.5 million in a derby at
the Pulo Mas track on Sunday.

The derby, which is organized to celebrate Jakarta's 469th
anniversary, will feature seven races with the Jakarta Derby
Classic as the main event. Three-year-old horses will compete in
this 1,600 meter race.

Favorites for the Jakarta Derby Classic include Young Blessing
from North Sulawesi, Rupawan from East Java, Halloween and Just
Right from West Java and Lady Centavo from Jakarta.

"The derby races are the perfect final training arena for race
horses before the first round of the Soeharto Cup next month,"
organizing committee official Iwan Lie Saputra said. (yan)
