Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Puspa has revealed that wellness tourism has become one of the priority programmes of the Ministry of Tourism to increase tourist visits to Indonesia and support the national economy.
“We from the Ministry of Tourism have included wellness tourism as part of our priority programmes,” said the Deputy Minister when met in Jakarta on Saturday.
She added that fitness tourism is part of quality tourism, and her side continues to encourage more activities in the form of events and support the development of the wellness industry.
To date, she said, Indonesia has cities that serve as wellness tourism destinations, namely Bali, Yogyakarta, and Solo.
While attending the 8th Saka Yoga Festival on Saturday morning, which is part of the National Dharma Santi celebration and the run-up to the Sacred Nyepi Day 2026, the Deputy Minister assessed that yoga is one of the attractions for fitness tourism and spiritual tourism.
This activity is expected to strengthen Indonesia’s position as a global wellness and spiritual tourism destination.
“Hopefully, activities like this can be held more frequently in Indonesia, so that we can truly strengthen Indonesia’s position as a wellness and spiritual tourism destination, which is indeed a trend for tourists in the future,” explained Ni Luh.
On the same occasion, Deputy for Sports Industry Development at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Suyadi Pawiro said that his side appreciates this event and encourages yoga events and competitions to be held in various places in Indonesia.
“We want to encourage more yoga events and competitions to be held in many places. I also note that yoga has been done at the National Museum,” he concluded.
