Deputy Speaker Urges Synchronisation of Teacher Needs Data for 2027 State Budget

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal has requested that the government and the National Teachers and Education Personnel Alliance Forum (GTKN) synchronise data on teacher requirements as a basis for formulating the Macroeconomic Policy and Fiscal Policy Principles (KEM-PPKF) for the 2027 State Budget (APBN).

Following an audience between the DPR, the government, and the GTKN Forum at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Thursday, Cucun stated that the current need for teachers is urgent, necessitating accurate mapping. “This is being simulated so that we can determine exactly how many teachers the government needs to provide,” he said.

He noted that the calculation of teacher requirements must be adjusted based on evaluations of schools with very few students, which have the potential to be merged. Beyond teacher requirements, he also urged the government to calculate the number of vacant headmaster positions to prevent disruptions to educational services. “Just imagine if there is no headmaster; once students graduate, who signs their diplomas? No one, right?” he remarked.

Cucun further requested that the government immediately provide certainty regarding the status of Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK), particularly those who are part-time and whose contracts are set to expire in September 2026. “Their status should not be left in limbo after September passes. So, this requires clarity. Regarding the PPPK, there are two types: full-time and part-time,” he said.
