Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly Encourages Students to Seize Opportunities Amid Global Disruption
Ambon (ANTARA) - Deputy Chairman of the MPR RI, Eddy Soeparno, has invited students in Maluku to seize opportunities amid rapidly evolving global disruptions, particularly in changes to the world of work and global dynamics affecting various sectors of life.
In a public lecture delivered to the graduates of Pattimura University (Unpatti) in Ambon on Thursday, Eddy stressed that the world is currently facing very rapid changes, making the ability to adapt the primary key for higher education graduates.
“Global disruptions that we are facing are changing very quickly, including changes in sectors or fields of employment. Therefore, adaptation to these changes is the key to the success of a graduate,” he said.
He explained that technological developments, such as artificial intelligence (AI), have increased productivity but also shifted several types of jobs. In addition, the COVID-19 pandemic and global geopolitical dynamics have accelerated changes impacting global economic stability and supply chains.
Professions are no longer limited to certain jobs, such as doctors, TNI, Polri, pilots, and so on.
“Nowadays, there are many promising new professions for our graduates, influencers, social media specialists, bloggers, and many more. These digital opportunities must be captured by Unpatti graduates,” he said.
According to him, dependence on fossil energy and oil and gas imports makes Indonesia relatively vulnerable to global turmoil, so strategic steps are needed to strengthen energy resilience.
“Therefore, through this momentum, it also opens opportunities to accelerate the energy transition, particularly in the electricity sector through the development of electrification, bioenergy, hydrogen, to nuclear energy as alternatives,” he said.
