Jakarta, VIVA – Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono (Ibas), Deputy Chairman of the MPR RI and Chairman of the Democratic Party Faction in the DPR RI, attended a national audience with students who are recipients of the Kartu Indonesia Pintar Kuliah (KIP-K) scholarship. Ibas expressed his pride and hopes. He emphasised that the opportunity they receive today is not ordinary, but an important starting point in their life journey. “In life, there is always a first opportunity. Use this opportunity as best as possible to learn, adapt, and achieve success,” Ibas stated in his remarks on Thursday, 9 April 2026. He also invited the participants to understand the meaning of their presence at the DPR/MPR Building as a symbol of the state being present for the people. He stressed that Indonesia, which is great—with diversity of ethnicities, cultures, and regions from Sabang to Merauke—is a strength that must be preserved together. Amid a global situation full of challenges and uncertainties, Ibas reminded that the young generation of Indonesia has great opportunities to grow and develop in a relatively stable environment. “The future of this nation lies in your hands. The state provides trust through the KIP-K programme and various education scholarships. This is not just assistance, but an investment in the nation’s future,” he asserted. Ibas also highlighted the importance of building networks and collaboration among students from various regions and disciplines. He viewed the diversity of backgrounds—from energy, agriculture, communication, to technology—as a strength to complement each other in addressing national challenges. Furthermore, he gave a strong message for the students to never feel small due to their limitations. “Never feel small because of all limitations. Prove that you can become great individuals who bring change,” he said. Ibas encouraged the young generation to become part of the solution, especially in strategic sectors like energy, food, and technology. He emphasised the importance of innovation, creativity, and the utilisation of scientific knowledge to meet the needs of the times. “We need young innovators who can provide solutions in the field of clean energy, strengthen food security, and utilise technology in a productive and sustainable manner,” he stated.
