Deputy Speaker of DPR Sari Yuliati Pushes for Inclusive Education in NTB
Mataram - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), Hj Sari Yuliati, is committed to realising inclusive and sustainable education, including advocating for the welfare of private teachers in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
Sari Yuliati stated that education is not solely the responsibility of the government but requires the involvement of all elements of society.
“From teachers, students, parents, community figures to the business and industrial world, all must play an active role. This is the key to realising inclusive and sustainable education,” she said while leading the National Education Day (Hardiknas) commemoration at the Islamic Center Hubbul Wathan in Mataram City on Saturday.
She emphasised that this inclusive and sustainable education aligns with this year’s Hardiknas theme, “Strengthening Universal Participation to Realise Quality Education for All.” The concept of “universal participation” implies a collaborative approach believed to be the key to creating an inclusive, adaptive, and sustainable education system.
Meanwhile, the phrase “quality education for all” underscores the importance of equal access to quality education without discrimination, whether in terms of geography, social, or economic aspects.
She explained that the universal participation approach is an important strategy in creating an adaptive education system while ensuring equal access without discrimination, both geographically, socially, and economically.
Sari said the Hardiknas commemoration should serve as a moment for collective reflection. Because, she said, the success of education can only be achieved if all parties carry out their roles in a real and continuous manner.
She also linked this momentum to the national development vision in Asta Cita, particularly in strengthening human resources, education, and equality. As a representative of the people from NTB, Sari expressed her commitment to continue pressing to reduce the school dropout rate in the region.
She revealed that various scholarship programmes have been successfully advocated for, from the Indonesia Pintar Programme (PIP) to the Indonesia Smart Card (KIP), targeting thousands of students in Lombok.
“There should be no more children out of school due to economic reasons,” she asserted firmly.
In addition, she highlighted the welfare of teachers, particularly private teachers in madrasahs. Currently, her side is advocating for them to be accommodated in the Civil Servant with Work Agreement (PPPK) scheme.
“The state’s recognition of teachers must be equal, including madrasah teachers who do not yet have status certainty,” emphasised Sari Yuliati.
Sari also conveyed her appreciation to the Head of the NTB Ministry of Religious Affairs Office, Zamroni Aziz, along with his staff, religious figures, madrasah principals, teachers, and all education stakeholders who continue to contribute to advancing education in NTB.
“May the spirit of Hardiknas 2026, centred at the Islamic Center Hubbul Wathan, continue to ignite collective commitment in creating quality, inclusive, and equitable education for all the nation’s children,” she said.
