Deputy Social Affairs Minister Backs 'Aku Cinta Laut' Programme to Help Communities Protect the Environment
Deputy Social Affairs Minister (Wamensos) Agus Jabo Priyono inspected the implementation of social service, health service and environmental service activities under the ‘Aku Cinta Laut’ Programme for the 2026 fiscal year at Muara Angke Fishing Port, North Jakarta, on Sunday (6/9/2026).
The activities, held to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the Indonesian Navy, consisted of efforts to clean the sea, beaches and the Muara Angke port environment. The event continued with the distribution of social assistance in the form of basic food packages, free meals and free healthcare services for the surrounding community.
On the occasion, the Deputy Minister commended the Indonesian Navy for combining concern for the community with efforts to preserve the coastal and marine environment.
“As directed by the President, we are all asked to carry out various activities related to environmental preservation. Today, the Indonesian Navy has proven and implemented this directive through environmental, social and health service activities,” said Agus Jabo in a written statement on Sunday (6/9/2026).
He also expressed his respect to the Indonesian Navy and all ministries, agencies, regional governments and community elements involved in the activities.
“We from the Ministry of Social Affairs express our highest appreciation. We support this activity and invite all parties to continue collaborating in helping the community while protecting the environment,” he said.
During the social service activity, basic food assistance was symbolically handed over to community representatives. The organisers also provided free meals through a field kitchen for residents around Muara Angke Fishing Port.
Meanwhile, during the health service activity, residents received free examinations and treatment. Services provided included general health check-ups, dental examinations, mass circumcision, minor surgery and other health services.
In addition to inspecting the distribution of aid and health services, Agus also observed the beach clean-up action involving the Indonesian Navy, ministries and agencies, regional governments, maritime institutions, students and various community elements. Participants were divided into seven cleaning sectors in the Muara Angke Fishing Port area.
The ‘Aku Cinta Laut’ Programme also featured waste sorting education together with the Ministry of Environment. This education aims to raise public awareness about waste management and the impact of plastic waste on coastal and marine ecosystems.
In addition to environmental and social activities, a food security programme was also reviewed through fish farming using a biofloc system. The programme is expected to support food needs while providing economic benefits for coastal communities.
Chief of Naval Staff (Kasal) Muhammad Ali emphasised that this activity is not only held to commemorate the Indonesian Navy’s anniversary. The activity is expected to be carried out sustainably with the involvement of the maritime community.
“We provide education while inviting the community to work together to clean the environment, especially in coastal and maritime areas,” said Muhammad Ali.

A total of 600 personnel came from the Indonesian Navy, while other participants came from ministries and agencies, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, the North Jakarta Administrative City Government, maritime institutions, community organisations and educational institutions.
