Deputy Regent Reveals He Has Been Snubbed Twice by Lebak Regent

Deputy Regent of Lebak Amir Hamzah has exposed the behaviour of Regent Hasbi Asyidiki Jayabaya following his snide remark about the status of a former convict. Deputy Regent Amir stated that this is the second time he has been snubbed by the regent. “This is the second time (being snubbed) and perhaps in several agencies, he actually often speaks coarsely like this. Such language is not appropriate to be conveyed in a meeting,” Amir told reporters on Tuesday (31/3/2026). The tension between the two peaked at the halalbihalal event held at the Lebak Regent’s Pendopo on Monday (30/3). During that occasion, Hasbi alluded to Amir Hamzah’s past as a convict in the bribery case involving former Constitutional Court Chief Justice Akil Mochtar. Amir emphasised that Hasbi’s statement at the halalbihalal event in the Lebak Regency Government environment had no connection to his position as deputy regent. He felt humiliated by the remark. “I felt humiliated at that time because in public he spoke about personal matters, and it had no relation to work, that’s why I spontaneously wanted to warn him,” he said. Amir assessed that Regent Hasbi’s attitude could have a negative impact on the government’s image. Because, to this day, he claims that infrastructure development in Lebak is progressing well. “Compared to other regions, we are good, our city roads are good, irrigation is good, village roads, regency roads are good, our APBD composition is good compared to other regions equivalent to us. But because of poor coordination, many hurtful speeches, what is good becomes bad in the end,” he said. Regent Summoned by Banten Provincial Government Governor of Banten Andra Soni summoned Lebak Regent Hasbi Jayabaya after he alluded to the status of former convict Deputy Regent of Lebak, Amir Hamzah. After being summoned, Hasbi said the case is already settled. Hasbi was present in the Banten Governor’s room, Serang City, on Tuesday (31/3/2026), around 10:00 WIB. The meeting was held behind closed doors and concluded around 11:30 WIB. After being summoned, Hasbi did not comment much on the meeting. He only said that the polemic regarding the deputy regent’s former convict status has been resolved. “It’s already settled,” Hasbi said. Meanwhile, the Secretary General of Banten Province, Deden Apriandhi Hartawan, stated that Governor Andra will handle the conflict. “That will be under the authority of Mr Governor as the representative of the central government in the region. Insyaallah, guidance will be given to the Regent and Deputy Regent of Lebak,” Deden said.
