The Deputy Regent of Rejang Lebong, Hendri, was not named as a suspect following his detention during a Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) sting operation (Operasi Tangkap Tangan, OTT) on the evening of 9 March related to alleged bribery in project contracting in the Bengkulu region.

“Not named as a suspect,” stated KPK Deputy Chairman Fitroh Rohcahyanto when asked via written message on 11 March.

Based on available evidence, Hendri was found not to be implicated in the alleged bribery case, according to Fitroh.

“It is because there is no evidence of involvement based on the available evidence,” he stated.

Previously, Hendri was among 13 individuals detained in the sting operation, with nine individuals transferred to KPK headquarters (the Red and White Building) in Jakarta.

In this operation, the KPK has named five individuals as suspects. One of them is Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari of Rejang Lebong.

The breakdown comprises three suspects from the private sector, acting as bribe-givers, whilst two others, including Fikri, are state administrators serving as bribe-receivers.

“The five individuals named as suspects include three as bribe-givers and two as bribe-receivers,” stated KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the agency’s Jakarta office on the evening of 10 March.
