Deputy Regent in South Sumatra Arrested in Connection with Bribery Case

The Deputy Regent of Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir (PALI) Regency, identified by the initials IT, and a head of a department within the PALI Regency Government, South Sumatra, have been arrested. Deputy Regent IT was taken into custody at his official residence, while the head of the Public Works Department, identified by the initials A, was apprehended in Palembang.

The Head of the South Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office, Ketut Sumedana, confirmed that both individuals are currently being transported to the South Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office for interrogation by the investigative team. “Yes, it is true that there has been an apprehension of these two individuals. They are currently on their way to the South Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office for further examination,” said Ketut Sumedana.

Ketut explained that the detention is related to an alleged bribery case involving project fees, which is currently being handled by the South Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office. However, the authorities have not yet specified which project is the subject of the case, as the investigation is still ongoing. “We are still conducting further investigations. The preliminary allegation relates to project fee bribery. We will provide further details once the examination is complete,” he stated.
