Jakarta (ANTARA) — Deputy Minister of Public Works Diana Kusumastuti has announced that the Directorate General of Highways (Bina Marga) has formed a Road and Bridge Infrastructure Readiness Monitoring Team for the Lebaran 2026 travel corridor.

"For national roads and bridges, the Directorate General of Bina Marga has established a Road and Bridge Infrastructure Readiness Monitoring Team for the Lebaran 2026 corridor, which has been conducting cross-regional monitoring across Indonesia since February through to the mudik and return flow periods," Diana told ANTARA in Jakarta on Friday.

According to Diana, the team is tasked with ensuring road stability and bridge readiness along main travel routes. The approach is being carried out systematically and in a coordinated manner to maintain optimal public service.

In support of smooth mudik and return travel flows for Lebaran 1447 H, the Ministry of Public Works is ensuring comprehensive readiness on both toll roads and national highways.

"As conveyed by Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo, during the period from seven days before to seven days after Lebaran, the target is zero potholes on both toll road sections and national highways. Currently, all field teams are accelerating routine maintenance and patching to ensure roads are in stable and serviceable condition," Diana said.

Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi said his ministry projects that 143.9 million people will make journeys during the 2026 Idul Fitri Lebaran transport period. He said the figure is based on a Lebaran 2026 transport survey conducted by the ministry to identify preferences and gauge public perceptions regarding travel plans.

He noted that his ministry had coordinated Lebaran transport readiness at a ministerial-level meeting held at the headquarters of the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture.

To serve public travel movements, the Transport Minister said his ministry has prepared Lebaran transport facilities including 31,345 bus units, 829 vessels, 2,683 railway rolling stock units, 392 aircraft, and 255 ferry vessels.

The number of transport vehicles that have undergone ramp checks includes 19,376 land transport units, 485 sea transport units, 19 ferry units, 392 air transport units, and 2,177 railway units.
