Deputy Police Chief Komjen Pol Dedi Prasetyo opened the 2026 Police Sports Week (POR Polri) on Sunday (28/6). The event is being held as an effort to strengthen internal solidarity while reaffirming the Police’s commitment to being closer to the community as protectors and guardians. The opening of POR Polri 2026 was also attended by several officials, including Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir and Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Akhmad Wiyagus. The sporting event is part of the series of commemorations for the 80th Bhayangkara Day. In his remarks, Dedi emphasised that the Police’s commitment as protectors and guardians of the community must be reflected in every aspect of service, including through sporting activities. ‘We need to reaffirm the commitment to be present in the community as protectors and guardians,’ said Dedi. According to him, sport is not merely a competition, but also shapes discipline, resilience, sportsmanship, and humility. Dedi said the event is expected to strengthen solidarity among personnel while fostering brotherhood within the Bhayangkara Corps. POR Polri 2026 features nine sports, including basketball, volleyball, badminton, judo, shooting, skydiving, and several other sports participated in by Bhayangkara personnel from various units.
