Deputy Police Chief Pledges Action Against Organisations Forcing Payment of Holiday Bonuses

JAKARTA — Deputy Police Chief Komjen Dedi Prasetyo stated that he would investigate the phenomenon of mass organisations forcing business owners to provide Tunjangan Hari Raya (holiday bonuses).

If evidence of violations is found, Dedi pledged that police would take enforcement action against the offending organisations. “I will look into this first. If it is indeed proven that there is a form of violation, then from the police side we will certainly take enforcement measures,” Dedi said when met at the Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

According to Pramono, the provision of holiday bonuses should not be accompanied by elements of coercion so that the business climate in Jakarta remains conducive. “Hopefully once again there is no coercion from mass organisations or anyone else to demand holiday bonuses,” Pramono said when met in East Jakarta on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

Pramono noted that Jakarta has long been known to have a conducive business climate. He also advised business owners to approach requests for holiday bonuses from outside parties wisely.

According to him, maintaining a conducive situation is important so that economic activity in the capital continues smoothly. “For business owners, if I may suggest, because Jakarta in particular we must maintain a life that is already running well,” he said.
