Deputy Police Chief Leads Final Appearance Check for 404 Akpol Cadet Candidates
Deputy Police Chief (Wakapolri) Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo is leading the appearance examination for prospective Police Academy (Akpol) cadets for the 2026 fiscal year. The examination is being conducted by the central selection committee at the Akpol multipurpose building in Semarang, Central Java, on Friday (24/7).
‘The future of the Police Force depends greatly on how the next generation is prepared. We are not just developing human resources with great capabilities, but also strong character, social awareness, and the courage to lead change,’ stated Commissioner General Dedi.
The appearance examination is scheduled over two days, concluding on Saturday (25/7). Led by Commissioner General Dedi and other high-ranking police officials, the examination serves as a final evaluation of the results from regional and central selection committees, providing a comprehensive assessment of the candidates.
This stage is the final step in a selection process organised by the Police Human Resources Staff (SSDM). The full selection process began with administrative checks, academic tests, physical fitness tests, psychological tests, and mental and personality depth assessments conducted at the regional level by 36 regional police human resources bureaus.
Candidates who passed the regional selection were then sent to the central selection at the Akpol in Semarang, Central Java, where they underwent the same series of tests again. ‘The appearance check is not merely about physical appearance, but is a thorough evaluation to ensure the previous selection results truly reflect the quality of the cadets who will be educated to become Police officers,’ Commissioner General Dedi explained.
According to SSDM data, 404 participants are taking part in this final stage, comprising 365 male and 35 female candidates. The panel of assessors alongside Commissioner General Dedi includes the Head of the Police Education and Training Institute Commissioner General R.Z. Panca Putra, Assistant to the Police Chief for Human Resources Inspector General Anwar, Head of the Police Internal Affairs Division Inspector General Abdul Karim, Deputy Chief of Police General Supervision Inspector General Tomex Korniawan, and Akpol Governor Inspector General Daniel Tahi Monang Silitonga.
