Deputy National Police Chief Urges Travellers to Call 110 for Security Assistance
Bekasi — Deputy National Police Chief Komjen Pol Dedi Prasetyo has urged travellers to contact the National Police hotline at 110 if they experience any security disturbances during their journey.
“If the public experiences any disturbances on the road, they can contact the Polri hotline 110 to enable the police to provide field services more efficiently,” said Dedi when met at the Command Centre kilometre 29 in Bekasi, West Java, on Saturday.
In addition, the National Police also provides a Short Message Service (SMS) blast facility. Through this technology, travellers will receive up-to-date information on traffic conditions via SMS.
“When certain routes become congested, this information can be conveyed to the public in advance, enabling the community to choose which routes to take,” he said.
“For instance, two hours before traffic management measures are implemented, whether for contraflow or one-way systems, this SMS blast will inform the public that contraflow will be implemented in the next two hours, for example from kilometre 29 to kilometre 70 or up to Kalikangkung,” explained the Deputy National Police Chief.
The Deputy National Police Chief, together with senior National Police headquarters officials, monitored traffic flow through aerial surveillance at around 10.00 Western Indonesia Time.
During this monitoring, Dedi noted that outbound traffic from Jakarta was flowing very smoothly. Although there was an increase in the number of vehicles, traffic remained in the smooth category.
Beyond traffic management, the overall situation regarding public security and order (harkamtibmas) remained conducive.
