Deputy National Police Chief Confirms One Way-Contraflow Traffic Engineering Will Be Deployed During Mudik, Though Applied Situationally
Jakarta – The Deputy National Police Chief, Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo, has stated that various traffic management schemes have been prepared for the 2026 Eid exodus period. These include one-way systems, contraflow arrangements, and odd-even regulations.
Dedi explained that the traffic management schemes have been documented in a Joint Decision Letter (SKB).
“The letter outlines traffic management and engineering measures, including one-way systems, contraflow, odd-even regulations, and arrangements at ferry crossing points,” Dedi said during a press conference at the Presidential Secretariat office in Jakarta on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.
According to Dedi, one-way traffic management is planned to be implemented from KM 70 at the toll gate to KM 414 at Kalikangkung toll gate. Meanwhile, contraflow will be conducted from KM 47 to KM 70 on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road.
However, this year the implementation of these traffic management schemes will be adjusted based on vehicle congestion levels.
“In traffic engineering, police will also exercise discretion on a situational basis. We will determine when to implement one-way systems, partial one-way systems, contraflow, odd-even regulations, transport restrictions, delay systems, or traffic diversions,” said Dedi.
“All of these measures are designed to facilitate smooth flow of the exodus and return traffic experienced by the public,” he added.
The three-star general assured the public that they will be informed two hours before any traffic management measures are implemented.
