Deputy Minister Urges HKTI East Java to Guard Against Agricultural Programme Irregularities

Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono has called on the Regional Leadership Council of the Indonesian Farmers’ Association (HKTI) in East Java to be at the forefront of preventing irregularities in agricultural programmes that could hinder the sector’s progress. Speaking at the inauguration of the East Java HKTI board in Malang Regency on Friday, he urged members to report any violations, such as the sale of fertiliser above the stipulated price. He stated that the HKTI must act as a key channel for socialising specific agricultural programmes while also serving as the eyes and ears to monitor and prevent fraudulent practices. Sudaryono added that the government under President Prabowo Subianto is fully committed to siding with farmers, stressing that the nation must not only have potential but must also execute its plans. Meanwhile, Chairman of the East Java HKTI, Arum Sabil, affirmed the organisation’s commitment to assisting the government in ensuring all agricultural programmes run smoothly and according to plan. He stated that HKTI East Java will provide accurate, targeted information regarding the real conditions of agriculture in each region of the province. Arum Sabil also confirmed that apart from working with the government, HKTI consistently collaborates with law enforcement to anticipate any misappropriation of government policies or programmes by parties that could harm farmers.
