Deputy Minister: TVRI Must Be Strategic Guardian of National Information Space
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital (Wamenkomdigi) Angga Raka Prabowo has stated that the Public Broadcasting Institution (LPP) TVRI holds a strategic role as guardian of the national information space amid increasingly complex challenges of disinformation, polarisation, and the flood of digital information.
He made the remarks whilst delivering material at a Digital Leadership Academy for TVRI leaders on Monday, at the same time affirming the importance of TVRI leadership translating presidential policy into enlightening content that strengthens public trust.
“In the hands of TVRI’s leaders, our information space must become one that enlightens, strengthens unity, and presents information grounded in facts for the progress of Indonesia. Let us think big, act fast, dare to make decisions, and deliver real solutions for the public,” said Angga Raka Prabowo.
Therefore, public communication must be grounded in the values of Pancasila and the mandate of the 1945 Constitution as the foundation of national and state life, whilst also serving as an instrument for enlightening the life of the nation.
According to the Deputy Minister, today’s media challenges stem not only from the torrent of information, but also from the spread of disinformation, rage-bait content, and the dissemination of Disinformation, Slander, and Hatred (DFK) that frequently defeats facts in the digital space.
This situation is exacerbated by digital platform algorithms that prioritise engagement over information accuracy.
For this reason, TVRI is expected to take on a greater role as a public broadcaster presenting information that is accurate, balanced, educational, and oriented towards the national interest.
Under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, TVRI must be able to translate government programmes that demonstrate the state’s presence, sovereignty, self-reliance, and commitment to developing the Indonesian people.
Furthermore, he stated that President Prabowo has a distinctive approach to resolving the nation’s various problems: think big, act fast, dare to make decisions, and deliver solutions now.
This approach rests on the principle of facts on the ground. Consequently, public communication must be built upon data, facts, and measurable achievements, rather than mere narrative or rhetoric.
TVRI must not merely report events, but also explain the substance of policy, strengthen public literacy, serve as a reference for information verification, and maintain a healthy digital space.
This shift forms part of TVRI’s transformation from a mere broadcaster into a strategic institution for national development.
