Deputy Minister Stella Urges Students to Build Knowledge in the AI Era

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Deputy Minister for Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Stella Christie, has encouraged students to build extensive knowledge and thinking capabilities as preparation for technological advancements, including artificial intelligence (AI).

The Deputy Minister urged students to utilise their university years to broaden their experiences, deepen their knowledge, and develop skills relevant to ongoing changes.

“One thing you must realise, so that you are not replaced by AI, is to possess knowledge that cannot be defeated by AI. Therefore, during your studies, you must explore all potential and knowledge,” she stated in a briefing in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Deputy Minister Stella also emphasised the importance of time management and the ability to set priorities.

“The knowledge gained during university is what will enable you to grow even further,” she continued.

During the briefing, the Deputy Minister summarised her views on the meaning of university life through five key messages: maximising one’s time in university, broadening experiences, building extensive knowledge, learning from challenges, and remembering one’s origins.

“Live maximally, do not do things halfway; explore and exploit; gain universal knowledge so that you are not replaced; what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger; and never forget where you come from,” she said.

Stella expressed hope that these foundations would not only strengthen students’ capacities during their higher education but also encourage them to become adaptive individuals capable of using their knowledge and skills to contribute to their communities and society.
