Deputy Minister Stella Targets September Launch for One-Stop Scholarship Portal
Deputy Minister for Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Wamendiktisaintek) Stella Christie has stated that a one-stop scholarship information portal is targeted for a limited launch (soft launching) within the next three months, or by September 2026. Speaking after attending the 2026 China-Indonesia Think Tank and Media Forum in Jakarta on Wednesday, Stella said the portal is currently in the development stage. “We hope it can be soft launched within these three months; the concept development and so forth are underway. But indeed, there is a lot being worked on by the ministry,” Stella said. Stella explained that the portal will consolidate various scholarship information into one platform, including those provided by the Indonesian government, foreign governments, and the private sector. She noted that the portal is necessary to overcome obstacles in information dissemination, which have resulted in many scholarship opportunities going unnoticed by the public. “Because I see that we have what we call an information bottleneck. This is what we are trying to gather in one portal,” she said. She expressed hope that the portal would open wider access to various educational opportunities, including scholarships from China, which are quite substantial in number. “This is so that our friends know about scholarships not only from the central government, but also from the Chinese government,” she added. With the presence of this scholarship information portal, Stella hopes that more Indonesian students will continue their studies in China. In addition to improving the quality of human resources (SDM), this step is also expected to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
