Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Wamendikdasmen) Fajar Riza Ul Haq has commended SMAN 14 Bandar Lampung for successfully increasing higher education participation, with all of its graduates this year being accepted into state universities (PTN).

“The readiness of high school graduates and a strong school culture are important factors in increasing higher education participation rates,” Fajar said in a written statement in Jakarta on Saturday.

Amid efforts to boost higher education participation in Indonesia, he noted that SMAN 14 Bandar Lampung has demonstrated that education quality is built not only through academic achievement, but also through a school culture that nurtures dreams, character, and future readiness among students.

This year, he said, 100 percent of the school’s graduates—284 class XII students—were accepted into state universities, making SMAN 14 Bandar Lampung the only school to receive an award for its contribution to improving education quality.

For the Deputy Minister, the award proves that a healthy learning ecosystem can serve as a crucial foundation in preparing students to continue their education to a higher level.

According to him, increasing higher education participation is influenced not only by economic factors, but also by access to information, learning motivation, school support, and an environment that encourages students to have big aspirations—all of which are highly decisive factors.

Fajar assessed that schools play a strategic role in building students’ dreams and self-confidence.

Therefore, he continued, the quality of teachers, the leadership of the headmaster, and the role of guidance and counselling teachers are important parts of creating a learning ecosystem capable of guiding students towards a better future.

On the same occasion, Headmaster of SMAN 14 Bandar Lampung Hendra Putra said the award was not only a source of pride, but also motivation for the entire school community to continue improving the quality of educational services.

According to him, the school’s achievement was born from a shared commitment to provide the best education for students, both through character strengthening and academic ability enhancement.

“We strive to prepare students so they can continue their education to a higher level and have a better quality of life in the future,” he said.

He added that the school’s commitment is realised through various learning innovations that are continuously developed.

Amid increasingly rapid technological developments, SMAN 14 Bandar Lampung delivers a more meaningful, mindful, and joyful learning process through the use of digital technology.
