Deputy Minister Silmy Karim Surrenders to KPK, Now Under Investigation
Deputy Minister of Immigration and Penitentiary (Wamen Imipas) Silmy Karim is still being intensively questioned by investigators from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Thursday morning (4 June 2026). Silmy surrendered to the KPK on Wednesday evening (3 June 2026).
Previously, KPK investigators had been searching for Silmy in connection with an operation at the West Jakarta Immigration Office. “As of this morning, the questioning is still ongoing,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo when contacted on Thursday (4 June 2026), as quoted by detikNews.
In the raid at the West Jakarta Immigration Office, KPK secured 17 people consisting of state officials and private individuals. KPK has 24 hours to determine the legal status of those detained in the raid.
Regarding the status of Silmy and the other individuals detained, KPK will announce it today. “It will be announced later,” Budi added.
KPK was known to have been searching for Silmy after conducting the raid at the West Jakarta Immigration Office. The former Director General of Immigration was found to be in Jakarta. KPK then asked Silmy to surrender.
“We will continue to investigate this information, so the team will need the presence and testimony of the person concerned. Therefore, we also urge the person concerned to cooperate and surrender to the KPK so that it can help with the handling of this case,” said Budi on Wednesday.
That evening, Silmy surrendered to the KPK. Silmy arrived at the KPK’s Merah Putih building wearing a grey shirt. Silmy appeared to head to the KPK desk upon surrendering, but did not bring any identification.
Silmy did not say much when asked about being sought by KPK investigators today. Silmy said he was still carrying out his usual activities, completing his agenda before coming to the KPK building. “That’s all, just completing the agenda,” he said.
After filling out his personal data, Silmy Karim was escorted to the upper floor of the KPK building. Silmy Karim immediately underwent questioning in connection with the West Jakarta Immigration Office raid.
