Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections, Silmy Karim, has officially become a detainee of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) after emerging from the KPK’s Merah Putih Building wearing an orange KPK detainee vest.

According to an ANTARA reporter at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building, Jakarta, on Thursday, Silmy Karim walked towards a detention vehicle from inside the KPK building at approximately 08.36 WIB.

Following him, former Acting Director General of Immigration, Saffar Muhammad Godam, Head of the West Java Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, Jaya Saputra, Head of the Class I Special Non-TPI Immigration Office in West Jakarta, Ronald Arman Abdullah, and four other individuals also wore orange KPK vests.

They are suspected of being involved in a corruption case within the Directorate General of Immigration.

Previously, on June 3, 2026, the KPK initially confirmed that it had conducted a sting operation at the Class I Special Non-TPI Immigration Office in West Jakarta. This operation was the 11th of its kind during 2026.

Furthermore, the operation was related to the alleged processing of residency permits for foreign nationals, namely the Permanent Stay Permit (KITAP) and Limited Stay Permit (KITAS).

During the operation, which took place from June 2-3, 2026, the KPK arrested 17 people, consisting of eight state officials or civil servants, and nine private individuals who acted as intermediaries in the processing of immigration documents.

Some of these 17 individuals include the Head of the Class I Special Non-TPI Immigration Office in West Jakarta, Ronald Arman Abdullah, the Head of the West Java Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, Jaya Saputra, who previously served as Director of Residence Permits and Immigration Status from November 2024 to October 2025, and the Acting Director General of Immigration from October 2024 to April 2025, Saffar Muhammad Godam.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections, Silmy Karim, surrendered himself to the KPK on June 3, 2026.
