“Hajj health issues remain a primary concern every year, considering that around 25 percent of Indonesian pilgrims are elderly and another 177,000 fall into the high-risk category. Therefore, healthcare service models must undergo significant changes,” Simanjuntak said in a statement here on Monday.

On the occasion, he visited Saudi German Hospital, which will collaborate with the Hajj Health Center and healthcare personnel in serving Indonesian pilgrims.

He emphasized that health issues remain a main concern in annual hajj pilgrimage implementation, especially given the large number of elderly pilgrims and those at high health risk.

As a real step, the government will optimize the presence of satellite clinics in various sectors and deploy mobile clinics in the Armuzna (Arafah-Muzdalifah-Mina) area to strengthen healthcare services and monitoring for pilgrims.

“We will maximize satellite clinics and mobile clinics in Armuzna to better serve and monitor pilgrims’ health,” Simanjuntak said.

Healthcare services will also be strengthened domestically through the provision of permanent clinics at hajj dormitories, which will operate year-round, including to serve umrah pilgrims.

Similar efforts will also be reinforced through the Indonesian Hajj Health Clinics (KKHI) in Saudi Arabia.

“Going forward, hajj dormitories will be equipped with permanent clinics so that healthcare services can operate throughout the year, for both hajj and umrah,” Simanjuntak said.

This effort is expected to improve health protection for Indonesian hajj pilgrims, enabling them to perform their pilgrimage safely, comfortably, and in good health.
