Deputy Minister reminds of importance of safe spaces for children on film platforms

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria has reminded of the importance of providing safe spaces for children on film streaming platforms.

“I was told by colleagues from the Ministry of Creative Economy that Indonesian films are currently booming and generating hype. I think this is a good momentum for us to also enrich national film content that is safe for families and children to watch,” Nezar said at a media gathering in Jakarta on Saturday.

Nezar considered that all parties have an important role in keeping the digital space safe for children so that they can grow whilst enriching quality creations and works. According to him, the digital space can help children and creators alike develop their creativity in producing healthy, educational and inspirational content.

Platform operators were asked to be able to set age limits for children accessing the films they provide. He also expressed hope that the implementation of PP Tunas in the film industry could serve as an example for other countries and become a means of broadening public awareness.

“And of course, there, content that is aligned and appropriate for a child’s age can be managed through the platform’s technology so that our children receive content suitable for their age,” he said.

In addition, Nezar also assessed that the implementation of PP Tunas has so far been quite good thanks to the collaboration of all stakeholders. Age restrictions are currently being applied intensively to accounts across various social media platforms.

“We hope evaluations can be carried out continuously and that all platforms continue to improve in accordance with PP Tunas,” Nezar added.
