Deputy Minister: Prabowo Administration Delivers Real Solutions for Workers
Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor has affirmed the Prabowo Subianto administration’s commitment to making worker welfare a top priority in the national development agenda. The official, familiarly known as Fery, outlined a series of programmes being implemented by the Ministry of Manpower as a concrete demonstration of President Prabowo’s attention to all workers in Indonesia.
Fery explained that the main principle upheld by the current government is collaboration and solidarity between the government, employers, and workers. He highlighted the importance of active social dialogue as the primary mechanism for resolving any labour disputes.
“The state must be present to ensure worker protection. Challenges such as layoff issues, protection for digital platform workers, and occupational safety and health are mandates we must carry out together through transparent dialogue spaces, so as to provide fair benefits for workers and the business world,” Fery said in a written statement on Sunday (19/7/2026).
Fery stated that in line with President Prabowo’s vision of maintaining national economic stability, the Ministry of Manpower is now intensifying strategic measures that not only protect workers but also safeguard the sustainability of the investment climate. One such measure is regulatory revitalisation, namely pushing for the renewal of labour regulations to be more modern and adaptive to technological changes and global market dynamics.
In addition, Fery said the Ministry of Manpower is also continuously striving to improve competency by prioritising vocational training and apprenticeship programmes to bridge the skills gap, so that workers possess high competitiveness and strong bargaining positions.
Furthermore, there is protection for vulnerable groups by providing special affirmation for informal sector workers, persons with disabilities, and the domestic sector, which have so far not been optimally covered by regulations.
Fery also emphasised economic balance. According to him, the government acts as a fair mediator while ensuring decent wages. On the other hand, the government also provides support for employers so that operational burdens amid global economic pressures are maintained to prevent mass layoffs.
In the effort to realise regulations that favour workers, Fery also highlighted the central role of the leadership of the Indonesian House of Representatives, particularly Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad. According to him, intensive communication between the executive government and the legislative body is a crucial foundation so that every labour policy receives full political and legal support.
“The synergy between the government and the leadership of the DPR RI, especially Mr Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, is vital. He consistently gives great attention to labour issues. His support and direction in the legislature greatly assist us in ensuring that every regulation we formulate is not merely a policy on paper, but truly becomes a legal umbrella that provides real protection for workers on the ground,” he stated.
Fery said the active involvement of the DPR RI leadership serves as an effective bridge in accommodating the aspirations of labour unions conveyed through legislative channels, thereby creating synchronisation between government policies and the real needs of workers across the country.
Fery added that the success of labour programmes under the Prabowo-Gibran administration is measured by the welfare impact directly felt by workers and their families. He assured that the Ministry of Manpower will continue to improve, listen to the aspirations of labour unions, and open the widest possible communication channels.
“With close and responsible cooperation, the Ministry of Manpower’s programmes will be implemented effectively. We want to create a harmonious working climate where workers are prosperous and industry continues to grow and advance,” he concluded.
