Deputy Minister: PPAT Exam an Effort to Provide Good Service

Deputy Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Deputy Head of the National Land Agency (Wamen ATR/Waka BPN) Ossy Dermawan stated that the administration of the Land Deed Official (PPAT) examination is the ministry’s effort to ensure the public receives good land services. “The quality of land services is determined not only by good regulation or technology, but also by the quality of the human resources who run them,” said Deputy Minister Ossy in a statement in Jakarta on Monday. To maintain and improve the quality of the PPAT profession, Ossy said, the Ministry of ATR/BPN continues to refine regulations related to the PPAT position as well as the coaching system for PPATs. He noted that this year’s examination is being held in three locations: the Ministry of ATR/BPN’s Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) in Bogor, Al Azhar University Indonesia in Jakarta, and the Agrarian Polytechnic STPN in Sleman, Yogyakarta Province, with a total of 7,886 registered participants. According to him, the 2026 PPAT exam registration data includes 2,929 notary participants and 4,957 non-notary participants. The non-notary participants are competing for 1,743 PPAT formations spread across 270 districts and cities throughout Indonesia. Ossy explained that the exam material is comprehensively designed, covering ministry organisation, land law, land rights determination and registration, procedures for drafting deeds, and professional ethics. “All of this is designed to ensure that every PPAT will later possess adequate knowledge and professionalism,” he said during the official opening of the 2026 PPAT Examination at the BPSDM office of the Ministry of ATR/BPN in Cikeas, Bogor Regency. The 2026 PPAT exam will be held on different dates depending on the location. At BPSDM, the exam will take place on 3-5 August with 2,482 participants. At Al Azhar University Indonesia in Jakarta, it will be held on 11-13 August 2026 with 2,397 participants, while at the Agrarian Polytechnic STPN in Yogyakarta, it will be held on 18-20 August 2026 with 3,007 participants.
