“I am confident that Hajj operations will continue to improve in the future. What was achieved in 2026 will serve as a foundation for even greater improvements in the years ahead,” he said in a statement on Sunday.

Syafi’i noted that President Prabowo Subianto’s initiative to establish the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has contributed to improving Indonesia’s Hajj governance.

According to him, the establishment of the ministry marks a strategic step, as it is the first time since Indonesia’s independence that Hajj affairs are being managed by a dedicated and integrated institution.

He said improvements were evident in the stricter health screening process, which led to the cancellation of departures for 345 prospective pilgrims on health and safety grounds.

In Saudi Arabia, service upgrades were implemented across transportation, accommodation, catering, and healthcare services. Shalawat buses operated around the clock, hotel services were better organized and more comfortable, while the quality of meals remained consistent and satisfactory.

In the healthcare sector, cooperation with Saudi German Hospital and the strengthening of satellite clinics helped accelerate medical treatment for pilgrims.

During the peak Hajj period, cluster-based tents in Arafah and Mina were equipped with air conditioning, while 18 buggy vehicles were deployed to assist elderly and physically exhausted pilgrims.

Syafi’i also highlighted improvements in service management and queueing systems, which he said became more orderly and efficient. According to him, these reforms were also appreciated by the Saudi Arabian government.

He acknowledged that challenges remain, particularly regarding services in Mina. However, he expressed confidence that future Hajj operations will continue to improve through stronger institutional capacity and accumulated operational experience.
