Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports to intensify communication with KONI and KOI

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports (Wamenpora) Taufik Hidayat affirmed he will intensify communications with the National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) and the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) to improve Indonesia’s sporting achievements. “From now on we will foster even more intensive communication, especially since the government’s targets and the President’s are very high for Indonesia’s sporting achievements,” Taufik told reporters after opening the National Working Meeting and Extraordinary National Sports Conference of KONI 2026 in Jakarta on Thursday. Taufik said KONI is crucial in nurturing athletes and the national sports ecosystem. Taufik said KONI synergises well from central, provincial, to district/city levels to produce high-achieving athletes. Marciano stated that there should be no gaps in communication between the Ministry of Youth and Sports, KONI, and KOI. “Because our task is to unite the nation through sport. When we talk about sport we are only talking Merah Putih. Therefore, put aside the differences,” said Marciano. KONI is still holding the National Working Meeting and Extraordinary National Sports Congress, discussing the refinement of the Articles of Association and Bylaws as well as realigning KONI’s sporting programme agendas at various levels and across sports.
