Deputy Minister of Tourism Praises Marsinah Museum for Enhancing Cultural Tourism Appeal
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Puspa has praised the Marsinah Museum for its potential to enhance the appeal of Nglundo Village, East Java, as a cultural tourism destination rooted in history and culture.
“The presence of the Marsinah Museum is not only a space for learning about history but also strengthens the appeal of cultural and educational-based tourism in Nglundo Tourism Village,” Ni Luh said in an official statement confirmed in Jakarta on Sunday.
Ni Luh visited the Marsinah Monument, located along the Surabaya–Madiun provincial road, during her visit to Nglundo Tourism Village on Saturday (May 16).
Before entering the museum area, she first visited the house of Marsinah’s family, which was the birthplace and childhood home of the female labor activist born on April 10, 1969.
In the house, Ni Luh saw the bedroom, main room, and various documentation of Marsinah’s life journey displayed in large frames, along with a collection of awards from various parties.
Meanwhile, in the museum complex located next to the family home, she reviewed several of Marsinah’s personal collections that are stored and exhibited to the public.
The collection includes a bicycle that Marsinah used to ride, factory uniform, bag, wallet, school diploma, and various notes on her struggles, presented informatively and educationally.
“The presence of this museum will provide a quality and sustainable tourism experience and offer educational value for the community,” she said.
The Head of the Nglundo Tourism Village Community Group, Eko Fitri Puji Harto, expressed his hope that Marsinah’s designation as a national hero would further increase the appeal of Nglundo Tourism Village as a leading historical tourist destination in East Java.
“Hopefully, we can all work together to promote it. With Marsinah being appointed as a labor hero, we from the Community Group will prepare various things that can make visitors feel comfortable when they come to Nglundo Tourism Village,” said Eko.
As a pioneering tourism village, Eko admitted that they still need assistance in developing tour packages, improving service quality, security, and tourist comfort.
“We really hope for support from the district, provincial, and central governments so that Nglundo Tourism Village can develop well,” he said.
In addition, they are also collaborating with the Village/Urban Cooperative Merah Putih (KDKMP) to support the promotion, marketing, and distribution of village products. This collaboration includes developing souvenirs, creative products, and history- and culture-based tourism packages.
