Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono distributed aid and engaged in dialogue with residents in Ngampeldento Village, Salaman District, Magelang Regency, Central Java. During the visit, he emphasised President Prabowo Subianto’s commitment to eradicating poverty.

The activity took place on Sunday (15 March). Agus Jabo conveyed that Prabowo is working hard to improve the welfare of the people.

“Mr Prabowo wants change, Mr Prabowo does not want his people to be poor, Mr Prabowo does not want his people to live in difficulty,” he stated in a written statement on Monday (16 March 2026).

“So Mr President is now fighting. Mr Prabowo Subianto is fighting with all his might so that the Indonesian people live in prosperity,” he added.

Agus Jabo also urged regional leaders and village heads to support these efforts by strengthening cooperation and mutual assistance.

“Therefore, what is desired by Mr Prabowo must also be continued by regional leaders, especially village heads. So if there is anything, report it, if there is a problem, report it,” he said.

He explained that the Ministry of Social Affairs is currently conducting a pilot or trial phase of community empowerment programmes in Magelang.

One of the pilot villages is Purwosari, where residents have undergone training in water hyacinth handicraft weaving.

The empowerment programme is aimed at productive-age people so they have skills, employment, and income.

“I hope that Ngampeldento will join, Sidosari will join. So later we will create empowerment programmes. Hopefully our brothers and sisters in the villages who still have strength we can provide training we can provide jobs so they have income, especially for the women,” he explained.

During the activity, Agus Jabo also handed over assistance consisting of basic food packages and ATENSI to 150 Beneficiary Families (KPM) in Ngampeldento Village with a total value of Rp15 million. The ATENSI assistance provided includes nutritional supplements for elderly people, mattresses, and hearing aids.

Additionally, the Ministry of Social Affairs also distributed basic food packages to 1,400 KPM in Magelang Regency. The assistance was symbolically handed over to the Head of Social Services of Magelang Regency Government Muhammad Taufik with a total value of Rp210 million.

Meanwhile, Salaman District Head Imam Wisnu Kusuma expressed gratitude for the assistance provided to residents of Ngampeldento Village and the people of Magelang Regency.

“With social assistance, food packages and other assistance, I am confident this has a positive impact for the community that as we approach Eid al-Fitr, the community needs assistance. And alhamdulillah, the Deputy Minister of Social Affairs kindly provided assistance to all of us. For that, we extend our deepest gratitude,” said Imam.
