Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs: Divinity and Nationalism Cannot Be Separated
Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs (Wamenag) Muhammad Syafi’i has stressed that the values of divinity and nationalism are two inseparable aspects in the life of the nation and state in Indonesia. He conveyed this during a national religious lecture at the Bogor City Hall Plaza on Wednesday, as part of the Syawal momentum, attended by officials from the Bogor City Government (Pemkot) and community elements. He explained that Indonesia’s state foundation, based on Pancasila, places Belief in the One and Only God as the first principle, thus becoming the primary foundation in building national life. According to him, understanding the value of divinity is key to maintaining unity and strengthening national identity amid global dynamics. He added that the momentum following the Ramadan fasting worship provides an opportunity to return to one’s innate nature, cleanse the heart, and strengthen interpersonal relations. With a clean heart and strong social relations, he continued, the community is expected to contribute better to development, including at the local level. Bogor Mayor Dedie A Rachim stated that the national religious lecture activity is part of efforts to strengthen spiritual, social, and national foundations within the Pemkot Bogor environment. He hopes the activity can provide understanding and inspiration for all apparatus and the community to continuously improve the quality of public services. The national religious lecture was also attended by local government officials, academics, religious figures, interfaith leaders, and community representatives in Bogor City.
