Deputy Minister of Hajj: Hajj 2026 to Carry Message of Peace

Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah (Wamenhaj) Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak has called for prayers from all Indonesians to ensure the Hajj 2026 pilgrimage proceeds smoothly, safely, and comfortably, while stressing that the Hajj must serve as a symbol of world peace amid global conflicts.

This call was made as Wamenhaj began his working visit to Saudi Arabia, where he directly inspected the operational readiness for Hajj and coordinated with local authorities.

Dahnil assured that all preparations are progressing well without significant obstacles, from both the Indonesian and Saudi sides. The first departure of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims is scheduled to begin on 22 April 2026.

“Alhamdulillah, up to today there are no obstacles in the preparations. Insya Allah, the first departure of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims will begin on 22 April 2026,” said Dahnil in his statement on Sunday (29/3).

Wamenhaj emphasised that the government continues to strive to optimise all stages of Hajj organisation to ensure safety and comfort for the pilgrims.

Amid the dynamics of global conflicts, particularly in the Middle East region, he invited the public to strengthen prayers as a collective effort.

“We pray to Allah SWT that the Hajj 2026 organisation runs smoothly, safely, and comfortably for all pilgrims. We also seek prayers from all Indonesians so that all these processes are granted ease,” he stated.

Furthermore, he stressed that Hajj is not merely a religious ritual but also carries a universal message about peace, human equality, and protection for vulnerable groups.

“Hajj carries a strong message about peace, human equality, and protection for vulnerable groups such as women and children,” he explained.

According to him, these values are hoped to inspire countries in conflict to reduce escalation and prioritise dialogue.

“We hope that conflict escalation can decrease, so that Hajj can proceed safely. Hajj must become an instrument to bring peace and safety for all humanity,” he added.

Wamenhaj also expressed support for the Indonesian government’s efforts in promoting world peace.

“We pray that various efforts undertaken by President Prabowo Subianto in building dialogue among world leaders can bring global peace,” he said.

Dahnil also invited all society to continue praying for the success of Hajj 2026.

“May Hajj 2026 run successfully, safely, and provide comfort for all Indonesian pilgrims as well as pilgrims from around the world,” he concluded.
