Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah urges pilgrims to prepare stamina for Mina-Jamarat walking route
Makkah (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak has urged Indonesian Hajj pilgrims to prepare their physical stamina and get adequate rest to cope with the lengthy walking route from Mina to Jamarat. ‘The furthest tent at Base Camp 12 to Jamarat is approximately 3.5 kilometres, so round trip would total 7 kilometres a day,’ said Deputy Minister Dahnil during a site visit to tent facilities in Mina and the route to Jamarat in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, 23 May 2026. He detailed that pilgrims opting for Nafar Awal would cover an estimated total walking distance of 21 kilometres, while those choosing Nafar Tsani would walk around 28 kilometres. Deputy Minister Dahnil assured that all operational and protection officers are fully prepared to assist Indonesian Hajj pilgrims during their stay in Mina, particularly during the stoning of the Jamarat ritual. ‘Important information for pilgrims using this route: please remain calm and move in groups. If assistance is needed, brown-uniformed officers are stationed along the way and can be easily contacted,’ he added. As a final preparation, he advised pilgrims to use the remaining time before the peak Hajj rituals in Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina (Armuzna) to rest adequately, increase prayers, and maintain health to endure the entire pilgrimage in the Holy Land.
