Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah Urges Greater Saudi Visits to Indonesia
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah of the Republic of Indonesia, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, expressed his hope that visits by people from Saudi Arabia to Indonesia will increase in line with the continued increase in the number of Indonesian pilgrims undertaking Hajj and Umrah in Saudi Arabia. “We hope that in the future, visits by people from Saudi Arabia to Indonesia will also increase, in line with the increasing number of our Hajj and Umrah pilgrims,” said Deputy Minister Dahnil during the celebration of the Founding Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in Jakarta, on Tuesday. Dahnil stated that Saudi Arabia is a strategic partner for Indonesia. Therefore, maintaining relations with the Saudi Arabian government is, according to him, a necessity. In addition to Saudi Arabia, Indonesia is also the only other country in the world that has a Ministry that strategically handles Hajj and Umrah affairs. The two Ministries in their respective countries continue to maintain close relations and communicate intensively in an effort to meet the needs of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims from Indonesia in Saudi Arabia. For this reason, Dahnil hopes that visits by people from Saudi Arabia to Indonesia will continue to increase in line with the increasing number of Indonesians visiting Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj and Umrah. “This year alone, our Umrah pilgrims in Saudi Arabia number 2.6 million, and it is likely to continue to increase. And this year, our Hajj pilgrims number 221,000,” he said. Meanwhile, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Indonesia, Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Amudi, also emphasised the deep relationship that has been established between Saudi Arabia and Indonesia, which is supported by the close relationship between the leaders and people of both countries. Ambassador Faisal added that the relations between the two countries continue to move towards a more strategic level, and he hopes that these relations will continue to increase in the future. “The cooperation between King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman with Indonesia under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto continues to move towards a more strategic level,” he said. “This relationship will continue to be strengthened, so that it reaches what we hope for,” added Ambassador Faisal.
