Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah Inspects Mecca Route Service at Juanda Airport, Ensures Readiness of Pilgrims Departing from Surabaya
The Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, inspected the implementation of the Mecca Route service at Juanda International Airport, Sidoarjo, on Thursday (15/5). This inspection aimed to ensure that the entire departure process for pilgrims embarking from Surabaya runs optimally and comfortably.
During the visit, Dahnil was accompanied by the Acting Head of the East Java Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and Chairman of the Surabaya Embarkation PPIH, Mohammad As’adul Anam, as well as a member of Commission VI of the Indonesian Parliament, Kawendra Lukistian.
Dahnil began the inspection by examining the Mecca Route service flow—a fast-track facility that allows pilgrims to complete Saudi Arabian immigration procedures at their airport of origin. He also greeted pilgrims from the SUB 90 group from Jember and Situbondo regencies to ensure the quality of service on the ground.
“We want to ensure that pilgrims receive the best service from their homeland,” said Dahnil during the inspection.
In addition to the terminal area, the Deputy Minister and his entourage also boarded a Saudia Airlines plane to provide motivation and lead a prayer with the pilgrims before departure.
In his speech, Dahnil conveyed a special message from President Prabowo Subianto. He emphasised that Indonesian pilgrims should uphold the dignity of the nation by demonstrating good morals while in the Holy Land.
“The President has asked that pilgrims be good ambassadors for the nation. Maintain solidarity and help each other among fellow pilgrims while performing the pilgrimage,” said the Deputy Minister.
Regarding the condition of pilgrims who are already in Saudi Arabia, Dahnil stated that they are generally in good condition and are being continuously monitored by the government.
In addition, the Deputy Minister explained the concept of DAM (penalty/animal sacrifice) payments. He affirmed that the Indonesian government is ready to support the implementation of DAM for the community, both through the Addahi program in Saudi Arabia and those carried out in Indonesia. (H-2)
