Deputy Minister of Defence and Deputy Minister of Investment Discuss Acceleration of Strategic Investment in National Industrial Sector
Jakarta — Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Defence (Wamenhan) Donny Ermawan Taufanto received Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstream Value-Added/Deputy Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Todotua Pasaribu at the Ministry of Defence headquarters on Wednesday, 25 February 2026.
The meeting discussed the acceleration of strategic investment realisation to strengthen the national industrial ecosystem whilst supporting the downstream value-added policy being aggressively pursued by the government.
During the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Defence emphasised that strengthening downstream value-added is a strategic step aligned with national policy direction in promoting industrial self-reliance. According to him, the integration of investment with the national ecosystem must be ensured to function optimally, including opening collaboration opportunities with state-owned enterprises (SOEs).
“The integration of investment with the national ecosystem is important so that economic benefits can be felt optimally and sustainably,” said the Deputy Minister of Defence.
Beyond discussing cooperation opportunities, both parties also highlighted a number of technical constraints in the field. One of these concerns land utilisation, which in part falls within Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) training areas, requiring further coordination to avoid disrupting defence functions.
As follow-up action, cross-ministerial and inter-agency coordination will be strengthened to ensure policy alignment and accelerate the implementation of strategic investment. This step is expected to provide tangible impact for national economic growth whilst strengthening the defence sector.
During the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Defence was accompanied by the Ministry of Defence’s Director General of Defence Potential (Pothan), the Deputy for Geo-economics of the Defence Policy Office (DPN), and the Sub-directorate Head of Defence Spatial Planning of the Ministry of Defence’s Directorate General of Defence Strategy (Strahan).
