Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Seeks Local IP Marketing Through Cross-Sector Collaboration
Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar stated that cross-sector collaboration is crucial to strengthening the entire value chain of the creative industry, so that the work of Indonesian creators does not stop at the production stage but also includes strategic marketing efforts, enabling every Intellectual Property (IP) to develop into a sustainable economic asset. “The Ministry of Creative Economy consistently encourages works to grow and demonstrate a complete ecosystem, from production, distribution, and IP strengthening, to monetisation or having marketing potential, thereby providing added value for Indonesian creative economy champions,” Irene said in a statement received on Thursday. The Deputy Minister also explained that cross-sector collaboration is a key factor for the national creative industry to expand its market and enhance global competitiveness. To this end, the Ministry of Creative Economy is ready to collaborate with Kisai Entertainment for the development and strengthening of the local Intellectual Property (IP) ecosystem through the organisation of the Jakarta Webtoon Festival 2026. This support includes recommendations for venue selection with a target audience that supports the visibility of Jakarta as a centre for internationally standardised creative economy activities. “The most important thing, of course, is that initiatives like the Jakarta Webtoon Festival have a clear foundation or event concept, a strong sustainability model, and provide an impact for the development of the national creative economy ecosystem,” the Deputy Minister stated. Festival Director of the Jakarta Webtoon Festival, Rizqi R. Mosmarth, said the Jakarta Webtoon Festival 2026 has a concept of celebrating local and international IP that first appeared to readers via Webtoon. Through this festival, it is hoped that many webtoon works born from the hands of Indonesian creators will be showcased, making them more widely known to local audiences. Kisai Entertainment is committed to proving that the Indonesian creative market has great potential, including encouraging a more massive consumption culture of local webtoon IP works. The initiative is also prepared to strengthen the creative industry network, open up investment opportunities, and expand the exposure of Indonesian IP to the international market. “The target is to have 15 international IPs and more than 30 local IPs participating together in the event later. We also want to invite several Kisai Entertainment partners from Korea, Japan, and America so they can also release merchandise sales for the Indonesian market,” said Rizqi Mosmarth.
