Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Bekraf), Irene Umar, is encouraging the strengthening of the national custom automotive industry, which has significant potential for exports.

“Of course, we need to learn about this new industry. For the local, national, and export industries so that we can add value for exports,” stated Deputy Minister Irene in her official remarks received and confirmed on Saturday.

During a visit and dialogue with creative automotive industry players at Motovillage, Jakarta, on Friday (24/4), Deputy Minister Irene emphasised the importance of understanding the needs of the developing industry, including the export potential already achieved by local players to various countries.

Furthermore, the utilisation of digital technology is seen as opening new opportunities for business actors, not only through physical products but also through the development of digital assets that have economic value.

“Regarding digital assets, it’s not just about playing around but we hope to sell the digital assets, so it’s not only from the side of creativity but can enhance the economic aspect, especially in the digital world,” she explained.

The Ministry of Creative Economy hopes to create stronger synergies between the government and industry players, so that the custom automotive subsector can develop as part of a globally competitive creative economy ecosystem.

Meanwhile, Motovillage is known as a hub for two-wheeled vehicle and automotive community activities, providing various facilities in one location, from showrooms and workshops to creative spaces that support the industry ecosystem.

Motovillage founder Umar Lubis admitted to being increasingly enthusiastic about the government’s attention and hopes this support will further expand the creative automotive industry network in Indonesia.

“We very much hope that in the near future there will be concrete attention to the creative automotive industry in Indonesia; we are ready to become a hub to help,” said Umar Lubis.
