Banjarmasin - Deputy Minister of Cooperatives (Wamenkop) Farida Farichah has invited Fatayat Nahdlatul Ulama of South Kalimantan Province (Kalsel) to become drivers of the success of the Red and White Village Cooperatives programme promoted by President Prabowo Subianto.

Wamenkop Farida conducted a working visit to Kalsel and took the opportunity to attend a seminar themed “The Spirit of Kartini in the Role of Nahdliyin Women in the Present Day” as part of the peak commemoration of the 76th Fatayat NU Birthday organised by Fatayat NU Kalsel in Banjarmasin on Wednesday.

In addition to attending the event, Wamenkop Farida also visited several cooperatives in Kalsel, one of which was the Ar-Rahman Sharia Cooperative that has been established for 14 years, while also monitoring Red and White village or sub-district cooperatives in Banjarmasin City.

She stated that Fatayat NU is one of the major organisations in this country, where the role of Nahdliyin women and other female activists, including in Kalsel, is essential to the success of the programme aimed at economic equity from villages/sub-districts in line with President Prabowo’s Asta Cita.

Wamen Farida assessed that the role of women in South Kalimantan Province is significant in enhancing the regional economy, particularly for those engaged in micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM).

“Moreover, this region has an extraordinary icon, namely Sasirangan batik, which is a local potential that must continue to be promoted,” she said.

Therefore, she initiated the Red and White Cooperative to encompass UMKM, especially those run by women.

“So that the cooperative institution has a clear legal entity, enabling clear and easier access to markets and capital,” she said.

Chair of Fatayat NU Kalsel, Hilyah Aulia, expressed great appreciation and respect for the presence of the Deputy Minister of Cooperatives at the peak of the 76th Fatayat NU Birthday, as well as serving as the main speaker at the women’s seminar related to the economy.

She conveyed the enthusiasm of Fatayat NU cadres to become empowered and impactful women, particularly in supporting government programmes, one of which is the Red and White Cooperative.

“Moreover, Wamen Farida is a cadre from Fatayat NU, which serves as an inspiration for us in the region to become independent, empowered, and impactful women, especially for the growth and progress of the regional economy,” said Hilyah.

Chair of the Banjarmasin City National Crafts Council (Dekranasda), Hj Neli Listiani, stated that significant attention has been given by Wamenkop to the growth of cooperatives and UMKM in Banjarmasin City.

According to her, Wamenkop, who took the time to visit the Dekranasda Banjarmasin City booth, expressed support for UMKM artisans in Banjarmasin City.

“She even strongly supports funding or capital assistance for UMKM in Banjarmasin at her ministry,” said Neli.
